YES!! Scorcese finally had his day, with the added bonus of The Departed winning as Best Film in this year's Oscar ceremony. Monahan also won for best adapted screenplay for this mob drama. only marky-mark didn't (not entirely unexpected)… still i'm glad. the other award was for editing (for thelma s.), to which i wholeheartedly agree.
This makes my day.
as expected, whitaker (The Last King), mirren (The Queen) and hudson (Dreamgirls) won as best actor, actress and supporting actress, respectively. alan arkin (Little Miss Sunshine) won an upset over eddie murphy (which also makes me glad heheh).
i was coming back from a lunch break when i learned about it. i almost danced a jig. the best film nod was a great bonus (i’d been hoping for it since last year).
ellen d. played it ’safe’ — she stayed away from controversial topics and her jokes wheren’t too risque. i guess she did okay
Posted by onyxx at February 27, 2007, 5:19 pmI never thought Marty would ever win an Oscar! -_- I thought he’d be another Peter O’ Toole. Finally though! Maybe the Oscars would start rolling in this time around for him.
FUNNIEST Academy Awards I’ve ever watched. Ellen de Generes is a gem!
Can I link you, btw?
I’m so happy for Martin Scorsese! My friends and I were all cheering for him. There were only few surprises but we were still hoping for Leo or Peter to win for best actor…
