it’s definitely getting colder these days.
one surefire indicator: my electric bill has gone down. not much, but it’s enough to make me notice. another sign: i can’t last the whole night with my ACU turned on. this means i usually need to wake up around 5:00am to turn it off; otherwise, i’d end up shivering (despite my PJs and thick blanket) or else wake up with a stuffy nose.
also, the unpredictable downpour of rain has just claimed its latest casualty: me.
how did it happen?
i was reading in my room when the rain suddenly started. after shutting the windows in my bedroom, i rushed to the living room to do the same thing. in my hurry, i failed to notice that the floor was already wet. in a blink of an eye, i slipped and went sailing across the floor, performing an awkward half-split in the process, before landing hard on my right knee.
cra-a-aack. for one horrified moment i thought i had broken my kneecaps. (the thought of lugging around a heavy knee cast for months sounds uncomfortable and repugnant to me.) after several seconds i tried to stand up. despite the pain and the lacerated skin (a reddish bruise was already starting to show), things seemed basically ok. that is, until i took my first step.
so now, i’m limping around my place like a rickety cart with uneven wheels. i’m functional (which is a great relief) but after reflecting about the events of the past few days, i am forced to conclude that either i am one of the klutziest dorks around or else i’m just singularly unlucky.
ouch. well at least you can still limp. in a few days time you’ll be back in good shape. i know this one guy who snapped his leg into two after a really awful slip. it seems water is really not your element eh?
take care man.
Whoa! Sorry to hear that, onyxx! Get well soon!

erm, thanks guys. actually i’m ok now. after a day of 0 activity, the swelling has finally gone down and i don’t limp that much anymore. my right knee looks colorful though — blue, green, dull brown
Dude, the things that happen to you …. You are one unlucky guy. I know a lot of hot nurse in my neighborhood (you know, me living near a hospital). I’d be glad to give you their numbers. ;D
Posted by ven at December 7, 2007, 8:24 pmIf only there’s no need to shower or drink, I could have advised you to stay away from any form of water. Hehe.
Same thing happened to a friend of mine, except that it was her ankle that got hurt. She was too busy flaunting her freshly salon-treated hair to notice a small uneven step inside a mall. So anyway, after much embarrassment and me laughing my head off… I played doctor to her for a week. I finally put my first aid skills to good use.
Ah, I’m babbling nonstop again… sorry. Hope your knee is better.

Man, how old are you again?
Having osteoarthritis of the knee means you need to find one hot nurse to take care of you… hehehe
I wish you well. Let me know if you need any help. I know some good doctors!
