a lot of filipino families must be feeling happy today.
after downing a heavy meal, i decided to go up to the roofdeck. it’s always cool up there and it’s been rather quiet here for a few hours now (i haven’t seen any of my neighbors since noontime; i expect they must have gone home for the holidays).
since i live near NAIA, my quiet reverie didn’t last long. the high-speed rumble and whine of a jumbo jet streaking down to make its final landing made me look up. i watched idly as a procession of planes passed my vantage point in 5- to 10-minute intervals.
the whole time i was there (almost an hour), i counted at least 10 aircraft — 2 NWA, 1 Emirates, 2 PAL, 1 JAL, 2 Korean Airlines and 1 GulfAir, including 1 small jet with unfamiliar markings. it’s easy to spot and identify the planes’ markings because the moon is full tonight. in fact, a few more jets were lining up for touchdown as i was leaving. heaven knows how many of them are still stacked up there, holding their oval pattern as they wait for their cue to land on NAIA’s busy runways this 23rd, or rather early 24th, of December. just in time for christmas.
i imagine the folks who comprise the welcome wagon must be having a merry time craning their necks in all directions as they scan around for their loved ones while more and more planes come in .
well, y’all have merry christmas guys.
which party — yung sa achorn? but i thought you had it all planned since first week of december pa? bummer. well, there’s always next year. at least you’ll have the whole year to plan it
No, ours, the “expats”—yung sa LNS!
Posted by ThePseudoshrink at December 25, 2007, 11:07 amAw, homecomings. I like the view from your home… except that jet engine noise would probably be annoying if it was that near you.
Posted by alia at December 27, 2007, 2:13 pmahh… THAT x’mas party! di bale, we can still do it next year. let’s convince more people to join us TPS para mas masaya
hi alia, how’s chicago? gumawa ka na lang ng halo-halo o leche con hielo dyan para kunwari nasa ‘pinas ka pa rin heheh. in case you bump into M. Jordan, try to convince him to spend x’mas here in the philippines
Happy Holidays Onyxx!
Must be an interesting experience for you everytime you’re up there…
Sometimes, we all need to go to a sanctuary where we could gather our thoughts and regain our strength. To some people it could be at the roofdeck, church, old house, or own room. For me, it’s always the MALL…. hehehe
Cheers man! You’ll be fine. Anything is possible in life especially if you have a GOOD HEART!
Posted by alvin at December 27, 2007, 6:53 pmThanks for your comment, onyxx. Haha, well it’d be great to bump into MJ, pero mukhang hanggang Bulls sweatshirts and jerseys na lang ako. I wear my uncle’s old oversized stuff pag wala na ko masuot. After wearing layers and layers of clothing each day of the week, I’m bound to run out of clothes! Hehe.
My advance greetings for New Year’s!

Posted by onyxx at January 7, 2008, 7:46 pmHi Onyxx,
Watching the planes arriving and/or going in circles would be heaven for hubby. Did you know that everytime we’d be driving near your area and a plane would pass over us, he’d crane his neck and just adore the jet? I think of it as something like hitting the brakes, gawking, and whistling when a sexy babe passes by. Buti nalang planes ito : )
Posted by Baduday at January 15, 2008, 2:44 pmhi baduday!
lucky you. i’m sure some women would prefer having planes for rivals than some home-wrecking bootylicious charmer heheh… musta na si zoe? does she like planes too?
