[NOTE: this post is SPOILER-FREE]
despite some last-minute changes in our plans, a friend and i grimly pursued our original intention of watching The Dark Knight on its opening day.
and boy are we ever glad we did. to put it in a nutshell, if you don’t watch this second Batman movie, you will miss one of this year’s best films. personally, i would say this is the best superhero movie i’ve seen so far. and i say that with confidence because The Dark Knight will leave you hanging on for dear life. yes, it’s that good.
why do i say this?
let’s leave aside the rave reviews that The Dark Knight has been reaping and concentrate on the audience’s reaction. usually you just feel how well a movie scores among the moviegoers by the way they react after the credits begin to roll — they erupt into spontaneous cheers and applause! and this time, you could just feel the buzz growing louder as the last scene began to fade.
another sign is when you hear the audience enthusiastically babbling about the movie or its characters/actors half an hour after they have left the theater. i know, because my friend and i couldn’t help raving about the parts that we liked best. we couldn’t even wait for each other’s sentences to end before launching off to another point. and to think that we both watched the movie!
the film’s highlights are provided by Heath Ledger and Christian Bale, among other things. and the Batpod.
and to the vacillators out there — don’t even think about it. just go and watch The Dark Knight, honorary citizens of Gotham.
sorry, but i just gotta say this. here’s the best line in the movie (and observe how the audience reacts when one of the characters utters this): “YOU… COMPLETE ME.”
you should. you really should! then wait for the audience’s reaction…
last thursday, it was so spontaneous and unexpected that i laughed out loud when i heard it (the reaction). the line was priceless, but the moviegoers’ reaction was even better.
TDK is already breaking BO records and the reviews have been great
. it’s worth the 2-year wait.
My favorite line as well!
YOU-COMPLETE-ME!
Also, I was never a fan of Heath. But was he brilliant? Utterly.
Posted by zarine at July 20, 2008, 2:32 amah, so you’ve finally seen it. me, i’m watching it again later today — for the pleasure of verifying if the movie is really as good as i thought it was
“YOU… COMPLETE ME.”
^ W-who said that?! LOL
Oooh, I have to watch this! Heath Ledger as the Joker looked good (as in, creepy=good) in the trailers.
